The God Bacchus

So this series came out of me trying to get a picture of what the throne of Bacchus, the Roman god of agriculture, wine and fertility, would look like. Here are just some of the many attempts:

These were pretty but they didn’t really satisfy what I was looking for.

These came out a little too abstract. Again, pretty, but not what I was going for.

These were edging closer, at least we were getting like Roman architecture?

And then I got this one:

And that made me think, huh… what if I do Bacchus himself?

ACK! Too… vampire. Or Trent Reznor. Just, no.

These were too Adonis / Disney prince. I thought Bacchus was supposed to be like… jolly and fat? Like Santa Clause? So I tried to go that route. It didn’t end well.

These were 3 of the best ones. The last one is pretty respectable.

Doing these led in to a whole other host of experiments, which I will put up in different posts.
